More Information

A leading fashion retailer is taking a large unit in Bolton’s Marketplace shopping centre and there is a requirement for a mezzanine platform to house duct work and smoke extraction at height.

Artez Interiors is the primary contractor for the project, and Doity was approached by one of their Directors, Steven Knight, who has previously used Doity on occasions for general mezzanine applications.

The project at Marketplace presented a challenge because all materials had to be manually carried by hand up the car park ramp to the plant room. This made it hard to use traditional RSJs. However, the lighter beams in the Revlok system made Doity the obvious choice as a supplier.

A design was developed to align with the ducting plan and was approved by the project's structural engineer. Unusually, as the mezzanine was on the third floor, the support columns had to align exactly with the existing building structure.

An order was placed by the main contractor, and Doity completed the project within the specified timeframe despite the tight constraints of the site.
